Peptide therapy
What it is
Peptide therapy uses short chains of amino acids that act as signaling molecules. The ones clinics sell differ in purpose: BPC-157 is promoted for tissue repair, CJC-1295 and ipamorelin as growth-hormone secretagogues, thymosin alpha-1 for immune modulation. They are marketed as a single class for healing, recovery, muscle and immunity, though their individual evidence varies sharply and most human data is thin or preclinical. None is FDA-approved for these uses; thymosin alpha-1 is approved in some countries as Zadaxin but not in the United States. The decisive regulatory fact is compounding access. The FDA has declined to place BPC-157, CJC-1295, ipamorelin and related peptides on the bulk substances usable in 503A compounding, citing significant safety risks including immunogenicity and, for several, no human exposure data. A pharmacy compounding advisory committee review is scheduled for July 2026.
